Inspired by a Fellow Blogger

Hi guys!! This is going to be kind of a short post because I''m suppose to be getting ready for church but I just couldn't help myself. I was scrolling through my Dash on my Tumblr and I came across a fellow blogger who had a couple of sets with the hashtag "If I was your Stylist" and I instantly fell in love!! If you know me, you know that I am madly in love with ALL things related to fashion and I aspire to be a Stylist one day. Since I've been in nursing school, my love for fashion has grown even more. Her post really inspired me to create more outfit sets. So I created a few of my own..

Fall Inspirations

Hi guys!! Welp, it's Monday...again. Thankfully I don't have any more homework due this week. So, I decided to spend my time wisely...and blog lol. Any who, I know it's the season for Fall festivals and things of the sort, so why not give out a little outfit inspiration.

One of my good friends invited my sister, my niece and I to a Fall festival in her neighborhood this past weekend, of course we went. I didn't know what to expect but I'm glad I went. It was nice to get away from homework, plus I wanted to see how my niece would react at her first Fall festival. My family has never celebrated Halloween so when I heard 'Fall festival' I thought it was going to be another typical Halloween function..I was wrong. It was actually nice. There was food, bouncy things for the kids, hay rides, and games. We would have stayed longer had the weather been a little warmer; plus, my niece was sick :(

I was definitely dressed for Fall. People normally don't know what to wear to Fall festivals and things like that, so I thought about doing a post with Fall-worthy outfit inspirations. Here goes:

Ok, the first look is chic yet simple. I pair a basic pair of skinny jeans with a plaid long-sleeve button down shirt. You can wear this outfit to any festivities for the Fall and look very chic. I've become such a huge fan of riding boots! They're gorgeous. You guys should know by now how I feel about pearls; I LOVE them, of course I add to add a pearl necklace here. I actually love the clutch because of the fringed tassels it has. So, whether you're going to the pumpkin patch or the state fair, this outfit would be perfect.
fall festival 1

This look would be perfect for a Holiday party, date night, or even a Girl's Night Out. I love black skinny jeans, they scream sophistication to me. I paired the basic black skinny jeans with a beautiful pink blouse. I know it's not the type of weather for a blouse with no sleeves, but that's why the blazer is for. I added a striped blazer as opposed to a regular, plain black blazer to add dimension to this look. A simple wedge bootie and black clutch complete the look. The diamond collar statement necklace adds a sense of elegance. I would most definitely wear this look. If I'm able to purchase all of these items, then I'll have a Outfit of the Day (OOTD). Be on the look out :)

fall festival 2

Ok, you guys should know by now that I'm a HUGE fan of white jeans. I don't care if it's after, before, or during Labor day, I will wear white jeans all year long. I'm actually thinking about doing an OOTD with this outfit. I just might, as soon as I purchase the rest of the clothing items, so far I only have the leopard print scarf and then tan cross-body bag. As soon as I get everything else, I'll do an OOTD so be on the look out. I love denim tops/ I always look for one when ever I go thrifting but I've never been able to find one that I like or one that actually fits. I'll try again in the near future. I pair the white jeans and the denim shirt with a pair of tan Oxford shoes, that I just A-D-O-R-E! They're beautiful, right? :)

These are three outfits that I would definitely not mind wearing this season. Let me know what you think. Hope you enjoyed. Have a Happy Monday!!!

Color of the Month: Royal Blue

Hi guys!!! While I was taking a break from drowning in Pharmacology outlines, as well as a Growth & Development summary, I decided to do another post before I get anxiety from another week of school. I haven't done a 'Color of the Month' since my very first post so I figured I should do another one. Ok so, I've been seeing the color royal blue a little bit more than usual. Although I haven't always been a huge fan of this particular color, I can truthfully admit that it has grown on me, I think it's a beautiful color. It is definitely "in" this year. It's such a versatile color, that it's able to pair well with a variety of other colors. Check it out below:

Nails of the Week: The Sparkly Red Carpet

Hi guys!!! I'm up early on this Saturday morning, attempting to get my outlines done for class on Monday. I get easily distracted though :( Any way, I thought I'd share a 'Nails of the Week' since it's been a while.

I've recently fallen madly and deeply in love with the color red. My favorite color is most definitely still pink, I just love beauty related products, like polish and lip stick, that are in the shade red. I never thought I would ever like red nail polish, but I do! I decided to polish my nails with a red polish that I've had for forever now, it seems. I wanted to spruce the red up so I added some glitter polish on top. Check it out below:

To be completely honest with you, I don't even remember where or when the red polish was purchased. It is made by Confetti and it's in the shade "The Red Carpet' and I absolutely adore it! If you're looking to purchase red polish, you can find some here for $4, here for $9.50, or here for $7.04.

I used a glitter polish as a top coat. It’s made by Wet n Wild ®, it’s called 'Party of Five Glitters' and it actually has five different colors of glitter in it. It has red, silver, fuchsia, green, and light blue colored glitters. I think it’s really cute! When I first purchased it, I use to wear it with every color I polished my nails with but I have to admit that I really love seeing it paired with the red nail polish the best. It’s definitely one of my favorite glitters. I think this polish was more than likely purchased from Dollar General, the price should be less than $5.

Welp, I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what you think, I would love to hear from you! Have a great Saturday!!!!

Perfect for Fall

Ok, so this past weekend I had the chance to spend quality time with my God-mom, Ms. E, and God-sister, Ricka. It was much needed and very well appreciated. We don't get to see each other often because we live about an hour and a half away from each other, so I was excited to see them. When we first arrived at Ms. E's home, Ricka wasn't there yet because she was at work., so we had a chance to kind of fellowship before Ricka came home. Once she came home from work, we decided to get something to eat. We ended up at the Waffle House because we had millions of coupons for free waffles. If you know me you know that I LOVE waffles from the Waffle House, and they were free so that was a plus.

After eating, we decided to do some shopping at the local thrift store. This made me extremely happy, because I love to shop! I can shop for hours and hours on end without even being tired, and it doesn't even matter where. We ended up at the Value Village. We would've went to the Goodwill but Ricka insisted that we go to the Value Village. She was on the hunt for some over-sized sweaters. Long story made short, I found 5 sweaters for only $17. Is that a deal or what!? They were each $3.49. I was so in love when I found them. I didn't really plan on buying anything since I was low on cash but amazingly, my mom came through for me as she always does. She insisted that I get whatever I wanted, so ... I did. And I'm glad I did.

I picked up 2 cashmere sweaters, 1 over-sized wool cardigan,1 cardigan, and 1 over-sized cardigan. Did I mention they were a total of only $17!? I shall be going back to Value Village in the near future. They have so many great deals. I will drive 1 hour and a 1/2 because I know that the clothes are of good quality, as far as no rips or tears in them.

Perfect for Fall
I think sweaters are IN for the Fall and for the upcoming Winter season. You can pair them with leggings or a nice fitting skinny jeans along with some ankle boots or riding boots and you'll be good. I added a few outfit ideas in case you're not sure on how you would like to style your sweater or cardigan. This is how I would probably style mine. Check 'em out:

Fall Idea #1

Fall Idea #2

Fall Idea #3

I hope you enjoyed this post and I hope it helped at least give you an idea of how to wear your sweater, or cardigan, for the upcoming cold seasons. Let me know if you would like to see more.

I'm dreading this week, because the weeks seem to go by a lot slower than the weekends. Any who, Have a happy Sunday!

Crush List: October

Hi ladies!!!! Did you miss me??? I do apologize for not blogging in so long. It’s just that nursing school consumes SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much of my time (I’m not exaggerating either!). It’s just been a lot. I've had a lot going on. I’m in my second term, with only three terms left until I’m able to sit for my NCLEX to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Also, I’m in my second week of official Clinical rotations. That has been a long and treacherous journey but I’m making it; mainly because of my mom. I’m not a quitter and I never give up, but I was on the verge of throwing in the towel and calling it quits on this nursing career. I wasn't expecting it to be as hard as it is. It’s really draining the social life out of me. I actually should be writing a paper that’s due tomorrow that I haven’t even started on, but instead I chose to catch up with you guys. My work ALWAYS gets done though, so no sweat, right? Lol Only a little. But, I've been slacking lately so enough about me.

I wanted to get caught up on the Crush list for the month of October before it sails by. The items on this list are items that I’m in dire need of (or at least in my mind I am). But, I’m in absolute LOVE with them. Let’s get started:

October wish list

1.      MAC nail polish: You guys already know I’m in love with nail polish, so of course I had to put it on this list. Since I can’t wear it during Clinical rotations I’ll just have to imagine myself with it on. That’s actually the only way I make it through the day without wearing it, just imaging I have it on my nails. Kinda weird ya think? Don’t judge lol. I know the color I choose isn't really a Fall weather kinda color, but hey, who says you HAVE to follow trends? I’m bucking the system lol. Anyway, teal has always been one of my favorite nail polish colors that’s the main reason I choose it for this list. you can purchase any of the MAC nail polishes here for $16.

2.      Victoria Secret PINK stuffed puppy: I’m not even sure why this item made it to the list. All I know is I want one! Plain and simple lol. The sad thing is, I can't find it any where :( HELP!! If you know where I can find one of the PINK stuffed puppy thingys, PLEASE let me know.

3.      Spiked Lita booties: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G is all I have to say.. Oh, and THANK YOU to Jeffrey Campbell! This booties are beautiful. I'm not one for spikes but I think they add a sense of sass to the shoes. I love these, they are perfect for Fall. I don't think I will purchase these any time soon, but they are darling to look at.

4.      Chiffon blouse with bow: I am in love with blouses. I know it may be getting too cold for them, but you can always have them in store for next Spring. I can't even begin to tell you how long I've been wanting one. I decided to add it to this month's Crush list because it would be too cold for next month. To me, they seem sophisticated and chic. I love them! I will most definitely have some for the Spring next year.

5.      Skater dress: I’m in love with skater dresses. They just look so classy to me. I love them because they aren't all tight and fitted. I’m petite and I don’t want to walk around in a dress that makes me look like a 10-year-old little girl, so I tend to cling to clothing that hides my figure or clothing that allows me to appreciate the assets that I do not have. Make sense? So, here you have a simple skater dress. You can dress it up for a date-night or make it even classier for a wedding. I shall become an owner of one (or three or four) one day very soon. You can find a few of them here for extremely reasonable prices.

6.      Jimmy Choo perfume: Ok, I've never actually smelled this perfume before but it looks pleasing to my eyes. I would definitely love to own it (and I plan to in the near future!!).  When I searched for it on the web I found it here, it costs $70 for a 2 oz. bottle and $95 for a 3.3 oz. bottle. I also found it here with prices ranging from $24 to $95 depending on the size bottle, lotion, or rollerball you desire. The description on Sephora’s website read, “An expression of the modern woman’s aura, this scent at once conveys strength and beauty, glamour and confidence. Luminous green top notes join a heart of rich and exotic tiger orchid and lingering base notes of sweet toffee and Indonesian patchouli to leave a sensual memory on the skin. For the bottle, the opulence of jewel-colored Venetian Murano glass inspired its faceted design.” This perfume is stated to have notes of sweet orange, pear nectar, tiger orchid, Indonesian patchouli (whatever that means lol), and caramel, which all sound like delightful smells. This perfume style is feminine, luxurious, and stylish. Those styles all apply to my personal style in my opinion. I think I like the color of it because pink is my favorite color but I think I like the bottle design even more.

If you have the chance to try this perfume, or any of the other items listed, before I get a chance to, please let me know if you like it or not and if you would recommend it. I hope you have a good evening. Happy Thursday!!!

Style: Maritza's Baby Shower

This is my first outfit post so bear with me:

So, today I went to a close friend of mine’s baby shower. I can’t even tell you the last time I’ve even been to a baby shower since my niece was born; and that was back in 2009. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. We played games, interacted with other guests, and ate great food. Plus, the cake was homemade and DELICIOUS! All in all, I really enjoyed myself. I’ve been friends with Weetie (that’s her nickname) since high school so it felt good to catch up with her.

My outfit was really simple, nothing fancy at all. I wore some jeans and a cream button down shirt. I really like this shirt because it has really small ruffles on the front and it has a capped sleeve. I paired my look with tan wedge bootie heels. These are one of my favorite pair of shoes, and only 1 of 2 pair of wedges that I own. I purchased them a little while ago from a website called GoJane and they are still available for purchase for only $28.60; without tax, of course. I think they are a good buy and I definitely want to purchase some more but the closed toe ones for the Fall and Winter.

I wanted to go with a simpler look so I added my most favorite pair of earrings, pearl studs. I wore my tan purse that I wear every single day. Ok, the head-tie thingy actually came from a pair of shorts that my sister bought. I really love it because it hides the fact that I’m wearing this “protective” hair style. I did not feel like doing my hair today because I forgot to de-tangle it last night and we were rushing to get to the baby shower. I just did a two-strand twist with my bang and put the rest in a little bun.

Top: Ross
Ring: Amazon
Shoes: GoJane
Earrings: Christmas gift from my mommy
Head-tie: From a pair of shorts

Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Crush List: September

Sooo, I think I will try out this "Wishlist" post. I don't really like the name "wish" so I renamed it "Crush List." It just sounds better to me. But check it out below and tell me what you think:

september wishlist

september wishlist by forevermytil featuring bow tops

1.      Black glitter TOMS: I am so in love with these glittered TOMS. They are the perfect foot accessory and just in time for Fall. They could really go with any outfit to make it more casual. I think I will actually put them on my birthday list.

2.      Pearl statement necklace: If you know me, you know I just adore pearls! This pearl statement necklace has gold accents. It would be the perfect neck candy for any night out. The necklace pictured above is actually a Chanel necklace. Although I just ADORE Chanel, I doubt I will be able to actually purchase this specific necklace. I would be better off trying to find a replica of it at Forever21 or Macy’s.

3.      Chicago beanie cap: Even though I’m from Atlanta, the Chicago Bulls is my all-time favorite NBA team. Of course my favorite player is Derrick Rose .. love him! I love the way he plays the game and I love everything he stands for. He has overcome so much adversity in his hometown but he remains humble. Anyway, I just HAVE to have this beanie cap to support my favorite team. You could be sure to remain warm this this cap. I especially love the little pouf thingy at the top. This hat is just so cute to me! Here this cap is only $20+plus tax.

4.      Combat boots: These combat boots are a cute tan color with leopard print detailing on the inside. I REALLY need these in my life for the Fall season. I’ve been looking for the perfect pair of tan combat boots and I believe I found them here. They are at Charlotte Russe but I don’t know if they carry size 7 ½ shoes there. I will definitely check it out though. You can find them here.

5.      Britney Spears “Fantasy” perfume: This is my most favorite perfume of ALL time! I bought it a couple of months ago and it’s all gone now; my mom and my sisters had something to do with it lol. But, I will probably be buying this for my birthday next month. The first time I smelt it, one of my friend’s from school had it on. I instantly fell in love with this scent. I think I will make it my signature smell. I just love it and I need it in my life right now. You can really find this perfume at any Walmart, Target, or drug store.

6.      Over-sized sweater: Oversized sweaters are in for the Fall. They are so cute and comfy. The sweater in the picture above could actually go good with the glittered TOMS. You could pair it with a cute pair of black skinny jeans and you’re set to go. I’m not Goth or anything, I just love black clothes. They just scream sophistication and chic to me. You can more than likely find any type of over-sized sweater at any fashion retail store for a lower price than the one pictured.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post. There will be a "Crush List" post every month so stay tuned! Happy Sunday everyone!!

Nails of the Week: OPI and Sally Hansen

Hi guys!!! I know it’s been FOREVER since my last post, I apologize. But, remember when I said I’ll have a week off from school in between each quarter? You guessed it! That’s this week. It actually started yesterday but I needed some time to allow my brain cells to rest. Any who, I thought I should get started with a Nails of the Week! Let’s get started:

Ok, if you know me, you know I cannot function in life if my nails aren’t polished. I just feel like my life is incomplete without polished nails. It sounds crazy but it’s so true! And, my toe nail polish has to be the same as my finger nail polish. I don’t like to have my toes and nails mix matched. Weird, huh? Don’t judge lol.

Yesterday I polished my nails with Sally Hansen’s “Mint Sorbet” but I didn’t want to do a post about it. Don’t get me wrong, I LOOOOOOVE that particular color, I just didn’t deem in post worthy. So today, I removed the mint polish and picked two colors that I’m not ordinarily able to wear during school. They are “Blew Me Away!” from Sally Hansen and “Simmer & Shimmer” from OPI. I’ve had these two colors for a while. They were just sitting in the polish basket. I decided to pick these colors for this week because felt they are a lot different from nail polishes that I would normally polish my nails.

I’ve used the “Simmer & Shimmer” plenty of times and I don’t know what drove me to using it today. In the past, it took forever and a day for me to take the polish off. It just stays on…forever. The glittery polish is so appealing to my nail sense and I just love the way the color comes out. Despite the fact that it’s a hassle to take the polish off, I would definitely use this color again in the future. The “Simmer & Shimmer” is a mixture of blue, silver, and pink hues. They all come together as one in this polish. If you would like to purchase this color for your own guilty pleasures, you can do so here for $9.25. Or, you can purchase it from Beauty store, like Ulta or Sephora.

OPI picture courtesy of www.aluxabeauty.com

Usually I love each and every OPI color but lately I’ve grown to love nail polishes by Sally Hansen. That’s the main reason I choose “Blew Me Away!” by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear. It’s a really pretty medium blue color. This nail polish can be purchased here for $2.59. I personally purchased this color, and most of my other Sally Hansen polishes, from Dollar General. I forgot the price though. I also purchased some from the Kroger Grocery store. Don’t judge lol.

So, if you liked these polishes then feel free to pick them up. Hope you guys have a wonderful and productive day. Happy Thursday!!

Blabbering: Inspiration of the Week

Hi Everyone!! It’s been a while, huh? I know. I’ve been busy with school L But, my first quarter as a Nursing student is over! YAY!! Ok, let’s get right into it. So, I’ve been feeling a little down lately. Reason being is that I feel like I have a lot of wonderful, creative ideas that I would like to share with the world, but I have no way of doing that. There is a great deal of personal goals that I would accomplish in a short amount of time, but I’m preoccupied with school so I feel like I should finish my schooling first.

So, yesterday I received an email from a blog I follow. It was so inspiring!!!! A woman by the name of Jen created, as well as runs, a blog entitled MadeByGirl. When I first started following her blog, I honestly didn’t check it regularly because I thought she only had posts about interior decorating, or outfits and things of that sort. But, I was completely wrong. The email from Jen’s latest post has really inspired me and gave me a new outlook on how I would like to achieve my goals.

There was a quote from a book entitled “She” by Kobi Yamada. I’m not sure what the book is exactly about but it looked like a book full of inspiring quotes. (You can find it here if you’re interested in purchasing it). It read: She took the leap and built her wings on the way down. That really struck out to me. I’ve been afraid to take my “leap” sort a say because I’m (1) scared to death of heights, (2) I petrified to fall, and most importantly (3) I don’t have any wings to help me fly in case I fall. Sadly, what I failed to comprehend is, I don’t need the wings to take the leap; I just have to put all my fears aside and take my leap! Taking a leap would be really beneficial to my future. I know what I want in life and I cannot afford to just sit back and watch my life go by without doing what I enjoy.

Time is something that you can never get back, so why waste it? You have to live for today because tomorrow may never come. As a matter of fact, tomorrow is today. Why would you put off something you can do tomorrow if you can do it today? That doesn’t make any sense to me. Sometimes I get a little discouraged when I think of everything I want to do along with the finances, or what if I fail, or what if no one likes it. After listening to my mom, and really appreciate what she says, I believe my time will come. I just have to continue to work towards what my goals and believe in myself. I am the only person who will get me to where I want to be in life. The decisions I make today, good or bad, will affect my future tomorrow.

If you know me, you know that music really speaks to me. The song “I Need You Once Again” by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir has helped me continue my walk with Christ in more ways that anyone will ever know. Another song is “I’ll Live for You” by CeCe Winans. I would definitely recommend both of these songs if you’re ever feeling down or searching for peace of mind!

I consider endurance, patience, and time management to be cherished abilities in my life. I have all those qualities so I know for sure that my goals WILL get accomplished! So, stay tuned..

(P.S. Don’t forget to check out Jen’s blog, artwork, and jewelry!) J

Style: Back to School

So, the summer of 2012 is coming to an end and the school year is vastly approaching. Sad to say but at least you have your wardrobe styling to think about! If you know me, you know I absolutely adore shopping!!! It’s my favorite sport :) Any who, I came up with three totally different looks for back to school.  These outfits were definitely inspired by my personal style. I hope you enjoy them.

OK, let’s get started:

Outfit #1 is more of a casual look. I combined a basic white skinny jean with a denim button-down that ties in the front; optional, of course! You can always partially tuck the shirt in if you don’t want to wear it tied. Honestly, I would prefer it tied; it makes it look simple and more feminine. I wanted to complete this outfit with a pair leopard print flats to make more of a statement. I LOOOOOVE leopard print shoes, especially ballet flats! Flats are more comfortable to walk in when you have classes all over campus. Let’s talk accessories. I added gold and leopard bangles to match with the gold accents on the ballet flats. Simple pearl stud earrings will say more than you know even though they kind of look plain. They scream sophistication to me. I also added a pearl necklace because I adore anything kind of jewelry with pearls! I wanted to go modest with the bag so I thought a simple light tan-ish colored cross-body bag would do just fine here. A nice smokey eye and a nude lip will tie this entire look together.

back to school 1

Outfit #2 is definitely a “girly- girl” look. I wanted to create a more ladylike look with this pretty dress. It’s a chiffon autumn inspired dress with olive green and coral colored leaves printed on it. I think it makes a statement! It yells classy and chic to me. I’ve become a huge fan of stud earrings so I thought the gold studs would go. I didn’t add a necklace because the dress has sort of a high neckline. But, if you want to wear a necklace with it, go for it! I wouldn’t judge. Since I love pink nail polish, I HAD to add it with this look. I think it’ll look good paired with a pink lip and neutral makeup, again. (I love neutral colored makeup but I hate neutral colored nail polish; lol don’t judge) And lastly: shoes! I decided to go with tan wedge heels. The tan wedges complete this look to me.

back to school 2

Outfit #3 is my favorite! I wanted this look to be more of a laid back outfit so I paired this simple white blouse with a pair of pastel pink denim shorts. I’m in love with this particular color pink!  I added floral printed heel wedges to complete the look. Now, you can change the wedges for a pair of nude flats if you don’t necessarily agree with the floral print. In my opinion, I love it! It works well for me. I’m not a big fan of huge sized sunglasses, but I added some to set a more casual tone for this outfit. You can never go wrong with diamond studs. They equal style and elegance. The pink bow necklace and pastel pink ring add a nice touch and they both match with the shorts. The beige envelope clutch ties the whole outfit together perfectly.

If I didn’t have to dress in blue and white nursing scrubs all day every day, I would most definitely wear all three of these looks!! I hope you enjoy them. Let me know what you think.

Have a good Tuesday!!!!
