Blabbering: Inspiration of the Week

Hi Everyone!! It’s been a while, huh? I know. I’ve been busy with school L But, my first quarter as a Nursing student is over! YAY!! Ok, let’s get right into it. So, I’ve been feeling a little down lately. Reason being is that I feel like I have a lot of wonderful, creative ideas that I would like to share with the world, but I have no way of doing that. There is a great deal of personal goals that I would accomplish in a short amount of time, but I’m preoccupied with school so I feel like I should finish my schooling first.

So, yesterday I received an email from a blog I follow. It was so inspiring!!!! A woman by the name of Jen created, as well as runs, a blog entitled MadeByGirl. When I first started following her blog, I honestly didn’t check it regularly because I thought she only had posts about interior decorating, or outfits and things of that sort. But, I was completely wrong. The email from Jen’s latest post has really inspired me and gave me a new outlook on how I would like to achieve my goals.

There was a quote from a book entitled “She” by Kobi Yamada. I’m not sure what the book is exactly about but it looked like a book full of inspiring quotes. (You can find it here if you’re interested in purchasing it). It read: She took the leap and built her wings on the way down. That really struck out to me. I’ve been afraid to take my “leap” sort a say because I’m (1) scared to death of heights, (2) I petrified to fall, and most importantly (3) I don’t have any wings to help me fly in case I fall. Sadly, what I failed to comprehend is, I don’t need the wings to take the leap; I just have to put all my fears aside and take my leap! Taking a leap would be really beneficial to my future. I know what I want in life and I cannot afford to just sit back and watch my life go by without doing what I enjoy.

Time is something that you can never get back, so why waste it? You have to live for today because tomorrow may never come. As a matter of fact, tomorrow is today. Why would you put off something you can do tomorrow if you can do it today? That doesn’t make any sense to me. Sometimes I get a little discouraged when I think of everything I want to do along with the finances, or what if I fail, or what if no one likes it. After listening to my mom, and really appreciate what she says, I believe my time will come. I just have to continue to work towards what my goals and believe in myself. I am the only person who will get me to where I want to be in life. The decisions I make today, good or bad, will affect my future tomorrow.

If you know me, you know that music really speaks to me. The song “I Need You Once Again” by The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir has helped me continue my walk with Christ in more ways that anyone will ever know. Another song is “I’ll Live for You” by CeCe Winans. I would definitely recommend both of these songs if you’re ever feeling down or searching for peace of mind!

I consider endurance, patience, and time management to be cherished abilities in my life. I have all those qualities so I know for sure that my goals WILL get accomplished! So, stay tuned..

(P.S. Don’t forget to check out Jen’s blog, artwork, and jewelry!) J

Style: Back to School

So, the summer of 2012 is coming to an end and the school year is vastly approaching. Sad to say but at least you have your wardrobe styling to think about! If you know me, you know I absolutely adore shopping!!! It’s my favorite sport :) Any who, I came up with three totally different looks for back to school.  These outfits were definitely inspired by my personal style. I hope you enjoy them.

OK, let’s get started:

Outfit #1 is more of a casual look. I combined a basic white skinny jean with a denim button-down that ties in the front; optional, of course! You can always partially tuck the shirt in if you don’t want to wear it tied. Honestly, I would prefer it tied; it makes it look simple and more feminine. I wanted to complete this outfit with a pair leopard print flats to make more of a statement. I LOOOOOVE leopard print shoes, especially ballet flats! Flats are more comfortable to walk in when you have classes all over campus. Let’s talk accessories. I added gold and leopard bangles to match with the gold accents on the ballet flats. Simple pearl stud earrings will say more than you know even though they kind of look plain. They scream sophistication to me. I also added a pearl necklace because I adore anything kind of jewelry with pearls! I wanted to go modest with the bag so I thought a simple light tan-ish colored cross-body bag would do just fine here. A nice smokey eye and a nude lip will tie this entire look together.

Outfit #2 is definitely a “girly- girl” look. I wanted to create a more ladylike look with this pretty dress. It’s a chiffon autumn inspired dress with olive green and coral colored leaves printed on it. I think it makes a statement! It yells classy and chic to me. I’ve become a huge fan of stud earrings so I thought the gold studs would go. I didn’t add a necklace because the dress has sort of a high neckline. But, if you want to wear a necklace with it, go for it! I wouldn’t judge. Since I love pink nail polish, I HAD to add it with this look. I think it’ll look good paired with a pink lip and neutral makeup, again. (I love neutral colored makeup but I hate neutral colored nail polish; lol don’t judge) And lastly: shoes! I decided to go with tan wedge heels. The tan wedges complete this look to me.

Outfit #3 is my favorite! I wanted this look to be more of a laid back outfit so I paired this simple white blouse with a pair of pastel pink denim shorts. I’m in love with this particular color pink!  I added floral printed heel wedges to complete the look. Now, you can change the wedges for a pair of nude flats if you don’t necessarily agree with the floral print. In my opinion, I love it! It works well for me. I’m not a big fan of huge sized sunglasses, but I added some to set a more casual tone for this outfit. You can never go wrong with diamond studs. They equal style and elegance. The pink bow necklace and pastel pink ring add a nice touch and they both match with the shorts. The beige envelope clutch ties the whole outfit together perfectly.

If I didn’t have to dress in blue and white nursing scrubs all day every day, I would most definitely wear all three of these looks!! I hope you enjoy them. Let me know what you think.

Have a good Tuesday!!!!
